Systems

System – Your organization’s approach to getting things done.

That is the definition that Andy Stanley gives for system.  He also says this about systems……

Your current system is perfectly designed for the results you’re getting.  That may be great news, or that may be bad news.

Organizations with problems or poor results usually look first to their people.  Leaders of troubled organizations often get rid of people, find new people, and shift people around in the hopes of generating better results.  But sometimes it is not a people problem, sometimes it is a systems problem.

Andy lists 5 components of every good system……

Expectations // What are our expectations of our people?

Rewards // What do we reward?  What are we accidentally rewarding?

Consequences // What are the consequences of not meeting expectations?

Communication // What style and content are necessary to support the desired behavior?

Behavior // How do we align the behavior of our staff so that they model so that they model the behavior?

Does your organization have good systems?
