Your life will leave a mark

ripples

My wife’s mother passed away 10 years ago today. She was a special lady so the pain of losing her remains, but stronger than the pain is the positive legacy that she left behind.

She has been gone for a while, but I still see her legacy in my wife. I even see her legacy in our boys and they never even had the opportunity to meet their grandmother.

Your life will leave a mark. Your impact, good or bad, doesn’t end when you do.

What kind of legacy will you leave behind?

Film Shoot

slakefilms

Yesterday, my family had a fun opportunity to participate in a film shoot for the latest short film from Slake Films.

Slake Films are directed by Ryan Shook, young and talented son of Woodlands Church Senior Pastor Kerry Shook.  You can watch all of his short films here on the Slake Films Facebook page.

My boys got to participate in a playground scene.

Just 2 directions for the kids: 1) play 2) don’t look at the camera.

The boys had a blast.

I can’t wait to see the finished product.

Here are a few pics from the film shoot….

Patrick Lencioni’s New Project // The Simple Wisdom Project

thesimplewisdomproject

Patrick Lencioni, the author of eight best-selling books including The Five Dysfunctions of a Team and The Three Big Questions for a Frantic Family, has a new web project called The Simple Wisdom Project.

Patrick describes it like this……

The Simple Wisdom Project is a source of perspective and common sense about topics relating to family, faith, and life’s daily challenges.  We believe that much of the wisdom we need to live better lives has been abandoned or forgotten, and what we really need is to rediscover simple truths.

The simple site at www.simplewisdomproject.com contains blog-post like articles called POVs.  I assume POV is for Point of View.

The site looks fairly new as there are only 6 POVs so far.

I read through most of the POVs and the content is as good as I expected from a great thinker and writer like Lencioni.

My only complaint is the format of the site.  A blog format would have been perfect for The Simple Wisdom Project.  The articles on the site do not flow like a blog, reader comments are not allowed, and there is no RSS feed on the site.  I think Mr. Lencioni is missing a big opportunity to create and connect with a community of his readers.

The site does offer email subscription.  Not my preferred method of receiving content, but when the content is this good, sign me up.

My wife, best friend, and super-mom of our 3 boys, Jennifer, has entered the blogging world.

She will be jotting down her thoughts, capturing our family life, and documenting the craziness of our life with 3 boys at her Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy blog.

So go check it out and leave her a comment to welcome her to blogging.
