Track Your Runs on Your iPhone 3G

I have been holding off on buying a Nike+ in the hopes that a GPS-enabled iPhone 3G app would soon be available to track my runs.

It looks like one might be available soon.

I ran across this on the MacRumor forums…….

Sorry for the late reply. I am the Founder of a company called FitnessKeeper, which is building a run-tracking application for the new iPhone leveraging the built-in GPS. It will enable you to track your run duration, distance, pace, and speed, and feed that data to a web dashboard where you can keep all of your historical runs. It will be available for download through the online Apple Store, and should be launching soon! I took the plunge and ordered an iPhone 3G last Friday.

The folks at the ATT Store told me…..

Your iPhone will be delivered in 7 – 10 days, but that is just what we tell people. It usually happens faster than that.

I am sure all the technology gurus and all the current iPhone owners would tell me…..

But the product is so amazing. It is worth the wait.

I am sure all the marketing folks would tell me…..

This is a demand creation strategy by Apple. People want what they can’t have. Take Nintendo and the Wii for example.

And I am sure they are all right. But today is day 7 and my online order status still looks like this…..

I will eventually get my iPhone on day 10 or 15 or ?? and I am sure it will be amazing, but for now I am just a very unsatisfied 1st time customer of Apple & ATT.

I’ve got about 7 days to convince my wife that our family needs one of these.

I told her I need one before our vacation next month so we could have Google Maps in the car.

Here is a trend graph comparing HP, Dell, and Apple……Guess who is who?

Red = Apple

Blue = Dell

Yellow = HP

I guess Apple has an advantage. People could be twittering about the fruit.

Brands I Really Like

Seth Godin posted here about brands and their importance to our lives.

He asks the question….If a known brand were to disappear tomorrow, would you miss them?

Here are some brands I really like…..

They made coffee cool. And their coffee just tastes better than all the rest. And Yes, I would really miss this one if it were to disappear tomorrow.

I hate grocery shopping, but I hate it a little less when I am at HEB.

Fast food done right. Tasty food. Clean restaurants. Amazing customer service.

Ok, so I work at HP and I don’t actually own a single Apple product. But I still think Apple is cool.

You might not recognize this one….but over 1 million people use their web based applications to get things done the simple way. As a Product Manager, I am fascinated by their simple, yet powerful products.
