Drive-In

Sometimes it is nice to mix things up with the family by doing something together that you have never done before.

We did that this past Friday with a trip to the local drive-in movie theater.

It was a unique experience…..

- a beautiful evening

- under the stars

- 50s music

- sitting in lawn chairs with room for the kids to spread out

- movie sound from the car speakers

- we even hid the kids in the trunk to save money! (just kidding)

Click here for a list of active drive-in theaters to see if there is one in your area.

Have you ever been to a drive-in?  If so, when and where?

The Three Big Questions for a Frantic Family

One of my favorite business authors is Patrick Lencioni.

He has a unique way of using fables to address business and leadership issues.

You may recognize some of his books…….

- The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable

- Death by Meeting: A Leadership Fable…About Solving the Most Painful Problem in Business

- Silos, Politics and Turf Wars: A Leadership Fable About Destroying the Barriers That Turn Colleagues Into Competitors

In Patrick’s latest offering he turns his attention to an organization that is more important than any corporation, business, or team:  the family unit.

Patrick uses The Three Big Questions for a Frantic Family: A Leadership Fable About Restoring Sanity To The Most Important Organization In Your Life to make a case for applying some business principles to help manage frantic families.

The Three Big Questions………

1)  What makes your family unique?

2)  What is your family’s top priority – rallying cry – right now?

3)  How do you talk about and use the answers to these questions?

My family is the most important organization in my life and yes, it is sometimes frantic, so I am adding this one to my wish list.

A Mountain

…….of dishes.

My wife and I play this crazy game of chicken when it comes to loading the dishwasher.

Neither one of us wants to give in, so we just continue to carefully place dish after dish on top of the mountain.  You would be surprised how high you can stack dishes in a sink.

I admit that she takes care of it most of the time, so I am going to go ahead and take care of today’s mountain.

Are there any silly household chore battles between you and your spouse?

Ring Bearer Extraordinaire

Check out this handsome little guy.

Ring Bearer Extraordinaire!

He cried & threw a fit at the wedding rehearsal. :-(

But he performed perfectly on wedding day! :-)
