Mental Toughness

Like many of you, I spent my Father’s Day evening watching Tiger Woods force a Monday playoff in the US Open.

One thing I noticed again yesterday is that Tiger has a bit of a temper.  Tiger doesn’t make too many bad shots, but when he does, he….

yells at himself……..kicks the turf………..tosses his club in frustration

just like the rest of us.

But Tiger’s mental toughness allows him to experience a moment of anger, express his frustration, and move on.  The bad shot is in the past.  A new shot requires his attention.

Tiger’s late father says it best in Nike’s latest commerical……..

‘Tiger, I promise you that you’ll never meet another person as mentally tough as you in your entire life.’  And he hasn’t.  And he never will.

A Beautiful Mix

As I mentioned in my prior post, the weather in my area has been beautiful. Unfortunately, I woke up this morning feeling a little ‘under the weather’.

So I spent my afternoon watching The Masters with my 3 year old son. He fell asleep, but I really enjoyed the broadcast.

CBS did a fine job. It was a beautiful mix of…….

  • tradition & history
  • technology and innovation

Amen Corner, Rae’s Creek, the live oaks, the pines, the 3 bridges, the Green Jacket……all of it looked incredible in HD.

The computer animated shots of the course were like artwork.

And the tracer technology that CBS used to show the trajectory of each shot was a nice touch.
