What if anyone could publish a magazine for free?

That is what MagCloud (@magcloud), an HP Development Company, offers.

“Democratizing Print” sounds like a great idea and MagCloud’s approach to doing so is quite innovative.

Eliminate the publishing costs that traditionally served as a barrier to taking a magazine to market.

Enable anyone to be a publisher.

Take advantage of the “long tail” and deliver magazine content to smaller niches.

Allow advertisers to better target advertising to consumers who are more likely to be interested in their products/services.

I also like the “start-up” feel of MagCloud.  Interesting given the fact that MagCloud is part of large, corporate titan Hewlett-Packard.

The Big Question is……

Do consumers still want printed publications in this new digital world?
