We are in the middle of a series at church called, Tightrope – Living in the Tension. This weekend’s message focused on the tension between strength and weakness.

Pastor Kerry used 2 Corinthians 12:7 – 10 where Paul describes one of his own weaknesses or “thorn in his flesh”.

Thought I would share a few of my notes from the message…….

• Your greatest weakness might just be your greatest gift.

• If you want to impress people, impress them with your strengths. If you want to influence people, influence them by admitting your weaknesses.

• A weakness is a gift because it……

• builds my character

• removes my complacency

• increases my compassion

• gives God credit

• God’s power works best in weak people.

• It is not about your weakness, it is about God’s greatness.

• Sometimes it takes God being all you have for you to realize he is all you need.

• Instead of focusing on how ordinary you are, focus on how extraordinary He is.

• Focus not on the giant of your problem, but on the greatness of your God.

• Your weakness doesn’t determine your worth.

Yesterday, my family had a fun opportunity to participate in a film shoot for the latest short film from Slake Films.

Slake Films are directed by Ryan Shook, young and talented son of Woodlands Church Senior Pastor Kerry Shook.  You can watch all of his short films here on the Slake Films Facebook page.

My boys got to participate in a playground scene.

Just 2 directions for the kids: 1) play 2) don’t look at the camera.

The boys had a blast.

I can’t wait to see the finished product.

I tuned in last night for some of North Point Online’s first online gathering. North Point Online officially launches on Sunday, August 16th.

Senior Pastor Andy Stanley and Campus Pastor Jeff Henderson introduced the new online community and talked a bit about the strategy, mission, and vision for this new experience.

North Point Online “will offer live worship, practical teaching, online discussion groups and much more.”

So exciting to see churches like North Point, Lifechurch.tv, Newspring, my own church home, Woodlands Church, and many others leveraging technology to….

1) spread the message of Christ

2) connect the members of the body of Christ

3) communicate with church members and attenders
